Women may be able to receive counseling individually, in groups, or through telephone services. The effectiveness of the counseling increases with treatment intensity (e.g., minutes of contact). Other resources for help to stop smoking include self-help groups, undergoing cognitive behavior therapy, and alternative treatments such as acupuncture and hypnosis. There are a multitude of self-help publications available such as quit action plans, manuals, and video and audio-cassettes with booklets. There are smoking cessation clinics and online support groups as well.
